So we've been working with one of our best clients exclusively for over 2 weeks now. By that I mean, this one client has seen more of us than our child has. We're at her house from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. At the end of last week, she took initiative and asked us what we'd like to get paid on a week by week basis. Basically she's stating that she wants to hire us on as her full time assistants, again...(I'll explain later) and by doing so she'd like to have us with her as many days as possible. I took the hint, gave her a ballpark price for the week, and here we are. Here's my pickle....
Remember the month of August? Yeah well, that's come and gone. That was a great month. We got inundated with work, got our business license, and the "fictitious business name" all taken care of. My only qualm with then and now is that all that hard work hasn't really seen the light of day. I don't know where the business license went? I don't know if the business name went through to the city? I didn't really get any return from the hard work I did. Anyhow, main point being, that was a pretty mute month.
So this client has been a friend for quite some time. She's worked with us plenty, and knows how good we are. We've seen so many of her "workers" come and go, and meanwhile we sit and wait. I guess we're waiting for her to let us know that WE are the one's who fit her best. We're the trustworthy, always on-time (or early), and always faithful to her whenever she needs us.
In closing, I guess I'm looking for advice. What would you do? Would you take the request of this client (which we've already done), and work with her exclusively week by week? Or would you take on new clients and let the client get you when she can. As it sits right now, I have 5 or so OTHER clients who are weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and sporadic. I could definitely still help those (and most likely will) but I have to choose whether or not to keep on accepting clients or whether to "close" my open arms, and work with what I've got.
